Allows projects where it is for the protection of the environment, he conservation or promotion of biological diversity through i) the provision, conservation, restoration or enhancement of a natural habitat or ii) the maintenance or recovery of a species in its natural habitat.
All projects should fall within 10 miles of a landfill site.
General public access to project sites would not need to be demonstrated to meet the criteria of this object. Neither the project site nor the organisation running the project must operate for the purpose of making and distributing profit. A charge can be made but the proceeds must not be treated or distributed as profit.
Examples of activities that will be allowed as part of the project:
Conserving a habitat on private land where a long term lease is taken by the Environmental Body to conserve and protect that area of lands biodiversity. Delivery of a specific element of a biodiversity action plan (BAP) where there are specific habitats with identified conservation objectives at a single project site.
